Welcome to the fifth season of Somos Familias Latinas, a free virtual conversation series that holds a safe space for connections and conversations by and for familias latinas!

Across four engaging episodes, we will explore what it means to be a parent en la comunidad latina, raising children while navigating U.S. mainstream cultures and politics today. This year, we will discuss the important roles that faith, solidarity, community care, and love play in familias latinas living in uncertain times. We will honor the resilience and strength of familias latinas as they tend to their children’s physical and mental well-being. We hope you can join us as we create a trusting parent community of mutual learning and support. All are welcome.

Episodes are on Mondays, from 3–4 pm ET / 12–1 pm PT:

September 28, 2026 – Holding Our Families Together in Uncertain Times

  • Episode 1 – Holding Our Families Together in Uncertain Times
  • Monday, September 28, 2026, 3–4 pm ET / 12–1 pm PT
  • The landscape for many of our familias latinas has shifted dramatically — ICE enforcement, deportation threats, and the stress of navigating systems not built for us. Families across the country are living with a level of uncertainty that touches every corner of daily life. From school drop-offs to workplace routines to conversations around the dinner table, immigrant families are finding strength to move forward even when the path ahead feels unclear. In the face of real fear and real challenges, something equally powerful is emerging — families are leaning in, neighbors are looking out for each other, and communities are drawing on deep wells of resilience to protect what matters most.

October 19, 2026 – Fe y Familia: Faith as a Foundation

  • Episode 2 – Fe y Familia: Faith as a Foundation
  • Monday, October 19, 2026, 3–4 pm ET / 12–1 pm PT
  • Faith is woven into the fabric of las familias latinas in ways that go far deeper than Sunday attendance or religious affiliation. Across la comunidad latina, families turn to faith and spirituality to make meaning, endure hardship, and hold their communities together, yet at a moment when society as a whole is drifting away from organized religion, many families are quietly wrestling with what to hold onto and what to pass on. Spirituality in las culturas latinas looks many ways and traditions have shifted across generations: it lives in the promesas made during a health scare, the healer visit quietly alongside the doctor, the sacred image hung above the front door, and the prayers whispered over a child before school.
November 9, 2026 – Dime Con Quien Andas: Solidarity in Community and Collective Power
  • Episode 3 – Dime Con Quien Andas: Solidarity in Community, Advocacy, and Collective Power
  • Monday, November 9, 2026, 3–4 pm ET / 12–1 pm PT
  • Las familias latinas have a long tradition of community care and what it means to show up for each other. From neighborhood networks to promotoras to kitchen table conversations, community care has always been an essential value of la vida latina. Today, that tradition is being called on in new ways — and families are answering

November 30, 2026 – Con Amor y Sacrificio: The Guilt, Dignity, and Deep Love of Caring for Our Elders while Raising Our Children

  • Episode 4 – Con Amor y Sacrificio: The Guilt, Dignity, and Deep Love of Caring for Our Elders and Raising Children at the Same Time
  • Monday, November 30, 2026, 3–4 pm ET / 12–1 pm PT
  • When grandparents or other relatives need care, we make room — in our homes, in our schedules, in our hearts. It is an act of love. It is also an act of profound sacrifice that doesn’t get talked about nearly enough. Many padres latinos today are living in the middle of two generations at once, raising their children while also caring for aging relatives, often without institutional support, often without a roadmap, and often without anyone asking how they are doing.

The series is presented with The Children’s Partnership and is part of BTC’s Family-to-Family Real Talk Program. Sign up for one or all conversations!
