Part 2 of a 3-part series! This workshop will expand on the importance of parenting through a culturally competent lens. It will explore key topics such as understanding cultural identity and recognizing bias in parenting, as well as strategies to support children in diverse social environments. Participants will also engage with culturally responsive parenting approaches through specific examples and practical resources that can be applied in everyday family life.

Dr. Heather Siek is a full-time Assistant Professor of Psychology at Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM). She also is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Minnesota for the past 14 years, primarily working with childhood anxiety and early childhood trauma within the non-profit setting

Rawand Amedi is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in North Dakota, Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) in Minnesota, and therapist at Solace Counseling. She believes healing isn’t about becoming someone different, it’s about finding a safe space where you can show up as your true self.
