LUNCH-N-LEARN: They Are Not Invisible with Dr. Adam Anthony

Feb 11
Wednesday, February 11, 2026 – 9:00am
9:00am - 10:30am

This session centers the “They Are Not Invisible” EmpowerMENt framework, highlighting the critical need to recognize and affirm foster/adopted boys—especially boys of color, as whole, complex individuals whose behaviors often represent unseen grief, identity navigation, and resilience. Through personal narrative and practical guidance, the session explores the emotional, developmental, and cultural realities shaping their inner worlds. Families and professionals will receive grounded strategies to reduce misinterpretation, strengthen connection, and build pathways for leadership, belonging, and voice. The goal is simple yet powerful: to ensure these boys are not overlooked, mislabeled, or misunderstood, but instead fully seen and supported in every environment they move through.

Learning Objectives
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize how the “They Are Not Invisible” EmpowerMENt framework shifts the way we can understand and support foster/adopted boys’ behaviors, emotions, and needs regarding identity, belonging, and emotional safety.
  • Apply trauma-informed and culturally grounded strategies that create visibility, validation, and consistency across home, school, and casework settings.
  • Integrate a leadership development lens: belonging, voice, and agency—into daily family and professional practice to empower foster/adopted boys to rise with confidence and purpose.
