Before embarking on the adoption journey, couples often invest significant time and effort in preparing for the arrival of their children. Yet, it’s crucial to ask: how often do they invest in preparing their relationship for the unique dynamics adoption brings? Co-piloting through the complex layers of trauma, adoption, and special needs can be both exhausting and overwhelming, putting a strain on even the most resilient relationships. The pressures of effective parenting can exacerbate existing relational stress fractures, underscoring the need for proactive measures to strengthen and sustain the relationship.
This webinar will address the often unspoken challenges couples face while navigating the complexities of adoption and out-of-home care. We’ll focus on key topics like communication, conflict resolution, and intimacy, with particular attention to the relational stressors that emerge when parenting children with trauma histories. Presented by a husband-and-wife team—both licensed professional counselors and adoptive parents—this session will provide practical guidance on how couples can build stronger, more supportive relationships.
Join us for an honest and insightful discussion as we explore the number one challenge facing couples on the adoption journey: isolation.
