Are you a professional in a helping role with children who have experienced the foster care system and/or are adopted? Are your clients struggling to put the pieces of their life together? Do they have a desire to look at the impact of where they have come from, but also cultivate a sense of who they are and who they want to be? Lifebooks and life story work can help children who have experienced foster care and those who have been adopted. Lifebooks can help individuals integrate information about their past, present, and future in a useful and therapeutic way. As a professional working with and supporting youth, you have a unique position to support and empower this journey by helping children gather and process information, answer questions, and support them in telling their story using their own words. In this workshop, we will take a closer look at Lifebooks, what they are (and are not), how and when they can be used, and helpful tips to get started.
