Let's Talk About Sex

Aug 12
Wednesday, August 12, 2020 – 10:00am
10:00am - 11:30am

Online training offered by The Arc Oregon – OTAC

This training is designed for parents supporting their child (pre-teens, teens, or adults) who need to talk to them about relationships and sexuality. It is especially helpful when their child requires long-term care and/or experiences I/DD or neurodiversity.

It can be incredibly difficult to know what to do when you need to talk to your child about sex and sexuality. Often parents feel awkward about bringing up the subject of sexuality, bodies, gender, and relationships and unsure what information they should talk about at what age.

This training will help you feel more prepared for talking about the birds and the bees with your pre-teen, teen, or adult child!

Objectives:

  • Starting a conversation about sexuality with your child
  • Learning healthy parenting tips regarding your child's emerging sex and sexuality
  • Balancing your child's safety with their empowerment
  • Planning for your child's age of consent and legal liability
  • Recognizing warning signs that your child may have been abused or exploited
