Understanding ICWA

This session will focus on building an understanding of the intent of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and will help guide participants in understanding the differences and protections involved in an ICWA case and a non-ICWA case. Participants will also learn how to cultivate relationships with a Tribe and enhance their understanding of why cultural engagement is important for Tribal children. No knowledge of Tribal Nations, ICWA/ORICWA or experience of working with Tribal children and families is required to participate.
