There are many ways to support your child once they turn 18; only one of them is guardianship. Explore Supported Decision Maing, Guardianship, and other less restrictive alternatives available to support your child. Get concrete steps you can use now to increase your child’s ability to direct their own life.
Transition to Adult Healthcare
Learn about the process of getting your youth with special needs ready for the changes in health care when they turn 18. Ideas for finding the right “adult” doctor for your youth and for helping them learn ways to be their own self-advocate with health providers. Ideal for parents of youth 12-20.
Special Listening Session
Following the workshops at 2:30pm, the OR F2FHIC will host a listening session for ten parents to share their experiences and ideas for improving the health care system for youth with special health needs. The first ten families to register will receive a $25 incentive for participating.
