Of all the cases that DHS child welfare works with, drug addiction impacts approximately 50% of those families. Methamphetamine is the largest drug threat in Oregon resulting in the majority of arrests and drug treatment intakes and the numbers are steadily growing. Many children in the foster care system are coming from homes where they've been impacted in some way by methamphetamine. These children require a caregiver who's knowledgeable about this pervasive issue, the effects on children born meth affected or raised in these damaging environments and skilled to meet their unique needs.
